Dr Madina Kurmangaliyeva
Research Fellow
Madina Kurmangaliyeva is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Economic Historian (applied economist) on the VOICES project. She completed her PhD in Economics at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy). Previously she worked at the Université libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) studying the impact of the Russian colonisation on Kazakh nomadic pastoralists at the end of the 19th century. Madina’s research focuses on how institutions interact with socio-economic inequality in power and resources. Her published research focused on the interaction of wealth and power with legal institutions using contemporary data ( https://www.madinak.com/research).
