VOICES Team visit Oxford
The VOICES ERC team, led by Principal Investigator (PI) Professor Ohlmeyer, began their research journey with a trip to Oxford. There they met with the team from the Civil War petitions project https://www.civilwarpetitions.ac.uk.
Professor Andrew Hopper, Professor of Local and Social History in the Department for Continuing Education at Kellog, University of Oxford and PI of the Civil War Petitions (CWP) project and Dr Ismini Pells, Research fellow in the Department for Continuing Education and Project Manager of the CWP project were very gracious hosts. Together we found many synergies and areas for learning and collaboration not to mention great potential around the use of Knowledge Graphs to model the findings Early Modern History projects.
The team also met with Chichele Professor of the History of War at All Souls, Oxford, Professor Peter Wilson. Professor Wilson’s research interests are centred on the impact of war in European and World Development, as well as the history of the Holy Roman Empire, so VOICES will benefit greatly from his insights into the roles of women in military history since 1500 and specifically in the Thirty Years war.
Professor Ohlmeyer is ‘looking forward to building on these hugely exciting and productive meetings over the next 4 years in the VOICES project. We can only benefit from each other’s progress. We will look forward to welcoming them to Trinity in the near future.’
